Hatfield House x deGournay

Hatfield House, one of the finest examples of Jacobean architecture in England, is a treasure trove steeped in history with ties to Queen Elizabeth I and later Robert Cecil, 1st Earl of Salisbury. Inside the sumptuous apple green-hued Chinese Bedroom is de Gournay’s hand-painted ‘Askew’ chinoiserie. Surrounding a soaring canopied bed hung with golden yellow silk damask, the design depicts an interwoven landscape of mature flowering trees, lily-filled ponds, weathered rocks, and many species of beautifully rendered birds.
